Mr Ryan & Mr Luu Training for World Champs

If you have been wondered why Mr Ryan & Mr Luu are leaping around at the back of class most training nights at the moment, it’s because they have set themselves a goal of being selected for the NZ team for the World Champs next year.
Mr Ryan has a good chance of being selected in team specialty having achieved the qualifying height of 2.3m in the overhead kick at the last team training camp.
Mr Luu has a chance in team sparring and possibly patterns so is busy working on his sparring combinations speed and flexibilty as well as his patterns.
This weekend they will both be travelling up to Central districts again for the last training with Mr Lawrence Magjika before next weekends first selection round.
On behalf of the whole club we wish you both success in the upcoming trial next week!
GOOD LUCK

As everyone now knows Mr Ryan and Mr Luu gave the World Champ trials their best shot but unfortunately missed out on selection. While dissappointing that they were not selected both represented the club and themselves with distinction. In the final selection round Mr Luu was trialled against the current world champion Mr Chris Braughton which was testiment to how close he came to getting into the team for this year! This is especially impressive given Mr Luu has only returned to training this year after a break of several years!
